Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend!
It’s been raining for much of this week, but it seems like we’re finally getting a really nice day today. Sunny! Up to 22C! My kind of going-outside weather.
I should go to a beer garden or some such today. I deserve it. You deserve to treat yourself too! I hope you’re having a terrific weekend, whatever you’re up to.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.
Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Saturday, April 18 are coming right up.

Have you ever seen words in this game that are so clearly purple-coded as FANTAGRAPHICS and PEPSINOGEN? One of the easiest purple groups I've ever seen. The comics publishers (which also include DARK HORSE and FANTAGRAPHICS) seemed a little too obvious to be a group from the jump, considering that MARVEL and DC were right next to each other on the default grid.
I got the power words next to square away the greens. STARE and WONDER then helped me figure out the yellows. That left the blues, for which the category was straightforward enough to deduce.
A deceptively easy game today to give me my 413rd win in a row.
How did you get on today? Here's my grid:

P.S. A long-time friend of mine who performs under the name Rose Tinted Eyes just released a trance song called "Liberation." I do genuinely dig this track — I wouldn't be sharing it here otherwise. It takes me back to my younger days when I was very much into EDM. Maybe this will help you get into the weekend party spirit:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
