Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend!
I’m gonna guess that you’ve seen today’s game by this point, so (aside from the next three paragraphs because I always include them here) let’s skip the preamble today and get right to business.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.
Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Saturday, February 7 are coming right up.
What Are Today’s Connections Hints?

I’d usually write out the word list here. Sorry, y'all, I'm not even gonna try to attempt to describe these symbols. I'd be here all day. Plus, I don't want to accidentally spoil anything.
So, we’ll skip right to the hints today.
The level one hints for today’s Connections groups are:

Today’s Connections answers are...
🟨 Yellow group — pips on a die (FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO)
🟩 Green group — symbols used in arithmetic (DIVIDED BY, EQUALS, MINUS, PLUS)
🟦 Blue group — punctuation marks (COLON, ELLIPSIS, PERIOD, QUOTATION MARK)
🟪 Purple group — lowercase letters (i, l, t, x)
Oh boy. At first glance, this looked pretty intimidating, but I was able to knock off two groups quickly: the mathematical symbols (the styling of the X didn't quite fit) and numbers as they appear on a die.
I was a bit stumped after that. I tried a guess of the crucifix, small I, capital I and quotation marks, since they were all vertical. I was one away from a group.
I then realized that three of these were likely to be lowercase letters, with what I thought was a "big i" turning out to be a lowercase L. So I swapped in the lowercase x for the quotation marks and got the purples.
That left the blues, which were punctuation marks.
Not quite as tough as it initially seemed, but this one is gonna be a streak-breaker for a lot of people, I think. My streak now sits at 343 wins.
