Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend!
I adore the Video Game History Foundation and its commitment to preserving as much video game history as it can. Its website recently added a cool collection of photos that’s worth checking out.
It features images from journalist Colin Williamson, who covered industry events in Japan in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. I’m most interested in the snaps that Williamson took of gaming culture, including the streets and arcades of Akihabara in Tokyo. There are lots of neat photos here.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.
Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Saturday, November 7 are coming right up.

This is your final warning!
Today’s Connections answers are...
🟨 Yellow group — pirate's plunder (BOOTY, BOUNTY, SPOILS, TREASURE)
🟩 Green group — kinds of shirts (HENLEY, POLO, RAGLAN, RINGER)
🟦 Blue group — first words of U.S. state names (NEW, NORTH, RHODE, SOUTH)
🟪 Purple group — ends of storm types (CANE, CLONE, EASTER, SOON)
I dodged the red herring of ____ islands by spotting the yellows first. NORTH and SOUTH made me think of North Carolina and South Carolina, thanks to RHODE being in the mix, so I took a punt and got the blues.
CANE brought to mind hurricane, which opened the door for the purples (hurricane, cyclone, nor'easter and monsoon). That left the greens. POLO was the only one I knew, but that was enough to help me figure out the category.
That's my 615th win in a row. No idea how I've managed to keep this streak going for so long.
How did you get on this time? Here's my grid:

P.S. I haven’t listened to any Ren for a while, so I had to check out this video when it popped up in my recommendations recently. In “The Music Business,” he makes his frustrations and anger about the business side of his industry very, very clear. An absorbing watch from a very talented musician:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
