NYT Connections hints and answers for Saturday, September 27

Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend! I hope you’ve got some fun plans lined up.

I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole the other day and learned something interesting about Churchill, Manitoba. That town is home to a polar bear jail.

The prison has 28 cells to hold polar bears that get close to the town and aren’t scared away by shotgun blanks. The bears are tranquilized and taken to the jail. They aren’t fed while they’re behind bars, which is apparently a tactic to make the bears think that food isn’t available in Churchill (the animals are used to fasting and are able to go months without eating) and to make them avoid returning.

I don’t have a big point to make here. I just thought this was fascinating!

The greens jumped out at me right away this time. I didn't flail around with those. Not even for a second.

The blues were up next. Those just popped right into my head.

At that point, the yellows seemed clear. I already had a good idea about the purples, but I wasn't going to toss away my chance at a perfect game by guessing without being sure.

The left the yellows. And I do feel good when I get those last.

A perfect game brings the streak up to 211 wins. I'm ready for some tougher games, Wyna. Let's make it a bit more of a challenge. Here's my grid for today:

P.S. I really enjoy the strange web games that Neal Agarwal makes. They’re funny and frustrating, and often provide clever commentary on the state of the internet. Agarwal’s Stimulation Clicker is one of my favorite games overall so far this year, and his latest game is pretty fascinating too.
