Hey there, Connectors! I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend so far.

Xbox offered me the chance to check out the first chunk of Forza Horizon 6, a huge racing game set in Japan that comes out next month. It’s probably going to be Xbox’s most important game of 2026 after this year’s Call of Duty. You can read about my experience with it here — not going to apologize for it dissolving into me navelgazing about maybe going to Japan this year.

Anyway, one of the things the game replicates is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a scenic destination that features a stretch of road with (at certain times of the year) walls made of snow that are up to around 65 feet or 20 meters tall. It’s wild:

Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.

Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Sunday, April 12 are coming right up.

What Are Today’s Connections Hints?

Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today’s Connections groups, I’ll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them.

Today’s 16 words are...

  • FLY

  • PAPER

  • TAKE

  • CAST

  • TROLL

  • PROJECT

  • POCKET

  • ANGLE

  • SHED

  • POSITION

  • RUSSIAN

  • CUFF

  • RAG

  • RADIATE

  • STANCE

  • BELT LOOP

And the level one hints for today’s Connections groups are:

  • 🟨 Yellow group — found on your legs and waist

  • 🟩 Green group — that's one way to look at it

  • 🟦 Blue group — give off

  • 🟪 Purple group — sawdust and glove would fit in here

One Word For Each Connections Group

Need some extra help?

Be warned: we’re starting to get into spoiler territory.

Let’s take a look at one word for each group.

Today’s Connections word hints are…

  • 🟨 Yellow group — FLY

  • 🟩 Green group — POSITION

  • 🟦 Blue group — SHED

  • 🟪 Purple group — RAG

What Are Today’s Connections Groups?

Today’s Connections groups are...

  • 🟨 Yellow group — pants features

  • 🟩 Green group — perspective

  • 🟦 Blue group — emit

  • 🟪 Purple group — ____ doll

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are...

  • 🟨 Yellow group — pants features (BELT LOOP, CUFF, FLY, POCKET)

  • 🟩 Green group — perspective (ANGLE, POSITION, STANCE, TAKE)

  • 🟦 Blue group — emit (CAST, PROJECT, RADIATE, SHED)

  • 🟪 Purple group — ____ doll (PAPER, RAG, RUSSIAN, TROLL)

PROJECT and RADIATE led me toward the blues, but it did take a minute or two before I realized SHED belonged with those. The pairing of POSITION and STANCE opened the door for the greens. No issue with those.

With only half the words left, PAPER and RUSSIAN made the purples clear. That left the yellows, which I thought were clear enough in terms of the category, for a 407th consecutive win.

How did you get on today? Here's my grid:

🟩🟩🟩🟩
🟪🟪🟪🟪

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. I’ll be back over at Forbes for the Monday-Friday editions for the column. And if you haven’t subscribed to Pastimes already, definitely do that! It would be super sweet of you.

P.S. I think I found this on Reddit, but I can’t quite remember. In any case, “My Man & Me” is a gorgeous song from Eloise that goes down quite smoothly on a Sunday:

Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!

On weekdays, you can find this column over at Forbes. Please follow my blog there for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot!

Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. Also, subscribe to this newsletter if you haven’t already!
