Hey there, Connectors! I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend so far.
My partner’s little one likes Pokémon. She was even wearing a Pikachu dress when I saw her the other day (plus, her dad has a Psyduck tattoo!). So, I think I’m gonna have to get into Pokémon.
Even though I write about Pokémon from time to time, I don’t really know all that much about it these days. That’s despite me watching the original cartoon when I was a kid.
I haven’t really been able to stick with Pokémon games either. Games with turn-based battles aren’t really my jam. But perhaps there are other ways for me to get into it, like with Pokémon Pokopia. That’s more of a life simulation game in the vein of Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley. It could be a fun thing for me and the kiddo to try at some point.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?
Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.
This is your final warning!
Today’s Connections answers are...
🟨 Yellow group — reproductive part of fruit (PIP, PIT, SEED, STONE)
🟩 Green group — bit of fruit-flavored candy (DOT, NERD, RUNT, SPREE)
🟦 Blue group — verbs in a college life slogan (PARTY, REPEAT, SLEEP, STUDY)
🟪 Purple group — starts of U.S. capitals (DEN, MAD, PHO, SAC)
The yellows jumped out at me first, so I got those sorted out. I had no idea what the blues referred to, but they seemed like they couple be settings on streaming music services. I lucked out a bit there.
I presumed that NERD and (Dipping) DOT would be references to candy things that I didn't quite know. I didn't have anything else so I decided to just brute force my way to that group. I got there with zero lives remaining to snag the greens and the purples.
As such, I barely got my 497th win in a row. I got lucky today.
How did you get on this time? Here's my grid:

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. I’ll be back over at Forbes for the Monday-Friday editions for the column. And if you haven’t subscribed to Pastimes already, definitely do that! It would be super sweet of you.
P.S. I saw the movie Up In The Air when it came out and the thing that’s stuck with me most from it is a song that’s on the soundtrack. “Help Yourself” by Sad Brad Smith is firmly on my go-to-sleep playlist. It’s a gorgeous track:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
On weekdays, you can find this column over at Forbes. Please follow my blog there for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot!
Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. Also, subscribe to this newsletter if you haven’t already!
