Hey there, Connectors! I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend so far.

I’m going to do something a little different today, with an intro that ties directly into the recommendation. I recently watched a live session by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco fame. His band included his sons and their friends, all of whom Tweedy had known since they were young kids from the neighborhood.

After Tweedy et al played a few songs, the host interviewed him. He noted that all of his bandmates were busy making their own music and added something that’s stuck with me. I hope a lot of young people (and more seasoned folks) will take it to heart.

"I just think that if there's a message that this band communicates, whether we say it or not, it's that you should make bands with your neighbors,” Tweedy said. “I don't think it's a bad thing for the world. It's killing time without hurting anybody, at least."

Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.

Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are...

  • 🟨 Yellow group — high-quality (CHOICE, FINE, PRIME, SELECT)

  • 🟩 Green group — signals to commence (BEGIN, GO, NOW, START)

  • 🟦 Blue group — accessories for a guitarist (CAPO, PICK, SLIDE, STRAP)

  • 🟪 Purple group — they have boards (CHESS, CORPORATION, DARTS, SURFER)

I got the guitar group right away since I have three of those things right next to my desk. I don't think I've ever used a SLIDE, though!

The greens were up next. That made the yellows apparent, but of course I had to slide the purples through first. The yellows wrapped things up for win 483 on my current streak.

How did you get on this time? Here's my grid:

🟦🟦🟦🟦
🟩🟩🟩🟩
🟪🟪🟪🟪
🟨🟨🟨🟨
