Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend!
Sometimes I feel like I missed out on a few aspects of life that many people experience. I lived with my parents while attending university and only moved out when I left for Canada. I lived there by myself for over a year until moving to a new place with my partner.
So I’ve never lived in a dorm/student accommodation or had roommates. On one hand, I suspect that had to have negatively impacted my social skills. On the other, I try hard not to live with regret.
Ultimately, I’m in a pretty okay place in life overall and I’m excited about the future. I wouldn’t be where I am in life right now without the decisions I’ve made up to this point. But there’s still a part of me that would have liked to have tried the full university experience, y’know?
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.

🟨 Yellow group — endorse (BACK, CHAMPION, SECOND, SUPPORT)

🟦 Blue group — era (AGE, DAY, PERIOD, TIME)
🟪 Purple group — in the NATO alphabet (ECHO, KILO, UNIFORM, VICTOR)
Hmmm, a very interesting grid today, Lots of time-related words to consider. I suspected off the bat that MINUTE might refer to something small, rather than a chunk of 60 seconds. There was definitely plenty to be concerned with in terms of red herrings.
I steered clear of that stuff initially by lumping together the yellows. It took me a couple of seconds, but then I clocked that a few words formed part of the NATO alphabet. I was a little surprised that those were the purples!
I was a little off in my assessment of MINUTE, as it referred to taking care of small details. Once I realized that it belonged with the rest of the greens, I was home and dry. I submitted the surprisingly straightforward blues for win number 137 in a row. Here's my grid for today:
🟨🟨🟨🟨
🟪🟪🟪🟪
🟩🟩🟩🟩
🟦🟦🟦🟦

P.S. Although I am tempted to recommend it today, I will spare you The Bloodhound Gang's highly juvenile and very catchy "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo" as today's recommendation. Instead, I'm going with a fun cover of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love." The Futureheads took that song in a completely different direction. I rarely skip it when it pops up on shuffle. It's real, real good:
For a point of comparison, here's the original, which is also great:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
