Today's NYT 'Connections' Hints And Answers For Saturday, June 7
Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections.
(None of these people knows what a chicken looks or sounds like.)
Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the weekend!
Okay, maybe you didn’t get a Nintendo Switch 2 just yet. That’s okay. There’s no big rush. The games will still be there next week, next month and next year (unless they get shut down, but y’know what I mean).
But what if I told you there was an absolutely perfect little game you could play on your phone right now if you have a Netflix subscription?
Netflix members have access to a bunch of great games, including the brilliant Poinpy. It’s very charming and cute, and a bit challenging while still being approachable. I think many of you would enjoy it too.
However, there are only a couple of days left before it leaves Netflix’s library and becomes unplayable for the time being. I’m very sad about that, and I hope as many people as possible check it out in the meantime.
Just search for Poinpy in the Netflix app to install and try it. I wrote a bit about it here:
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It’s a fun hangout spot, and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don’t look at Twitter much.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?
Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.
This is your final warning!
Today’s Connections answers are...
Yellow group — tips for working out safely (BREATHE, HYDRATE, REST, STRETCH)
Green group — establish (FOUND, INSTITUTE, LAUNCH, START)
Blue group — ditty (AIR, NUMBER, SONG, STRAIN)
Purple group — spring _____ (CHICKEN, EQUINOX, FLING, ONION)
Having BREATHE and HYDRATE close to each other on the bottom line made the yellows pretty clear right off the bat.
The greens were slightly tricky, though I had a solid idea about them after seeing FOUND just above start. I’m not a huge fan of using "launch" to describe the beginning of something beyond an actual rocket launch, but it feels like I'm fighting a losing battle there.
ONION felt really out of place on this grid. I initially thought it might make sense with CHICKEN as kinds of soups. But as I looked at EQUINOX, it clicked. A "spring chicken" is a young person, while a "spring fling" is a casual or short-term relationship.
That left the blues for the win. I got these by default, admittedly, because I am not sure I have heard of AIR or STRAIN in this context before? I looked them up and AIR seems to a relative of the Italian aria, so I guess that makes sense. A STRAIN can apparently be a section of a piece of music.
Anyway, that's win 102 in the books for my current streak.
For the record, here's how I fared:

P.S. I’m always to happy to find out that there’s a new song from The Beaches, and I rather enjoy “Did I Say Too Much.” There’s a bit of a nostalgic summery vibe to this, and it reminds me a bit of The Go-Gos and The Bangles. Good stuff right here:
